Working draft — prepared for review, not yet legal advice

This document was drafted for A and N Co Limited as part of building this website. It reflects how the business actually trades, but it has not been checked by a solicitor. Please have it reviewed and approved by the company’s legal adviser before it is published or relied upon.

01

The short version

This site sets no tracking cookies

We do not use analytics, advertising, social media or tracking cookies on this website. The only thing stored on your device is the enquiry list you build yourself, and it never leaves your browser until you choose to send it.

That is why you are not being asked to accept or reject cookies when you arrive. If we ever add something that does need your consent, we will update this policy and ask you first, before anything is set.

02

Cookies, local storage and the difference

Websites can keep small amounts of information on the device you browse with. There are two kinds worth knowing about, and the rules treat them the same way.

  • Cookiessmall text files a website asks your browser to store and send back on every later request. They are how most sites remember a login or track a visitor across pages.
  • Local storagea larger store that stays in your browser and is read only by code running on the page. Unlike a cookie, it is not attached to requests and is never transmitted to us automatically.

Both are covered by regulation 6 of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, which says that storing or reading information on your device needs your consent unless it is strictly necessary to provide a service you have asked for.

03

What this website stores

One item, created only if you use the enquiry list. The enquiry list is the trade equivalent of a basket: you mark the lines you want quoted as you browse, then send them to us in a single message from the contact form. Nothing is priced and nothing is ordered.

Name
anco:enquiry-list
Type
Local storage — not a cookie, and not sent with page requests
Purpose
Remembers the products you have added to your enquiry list so they are still there if you move between pages or come back later.
What it holds
For each line you add: the product code, product name, pack size and page address. No personal information, no prices, no account details.
How long it lasts
Until you clear it. It does not expire on its own, and it is not shared between devices or browsers.
Who can read it
Only this website, in your browser. We receive the product codes on your list only when you submit the enquiry form yourself.
Set by
A & N Co Ltd (first party). No third party is involved.

We treat this as strictly necessary for a feature you have explicitly asked for by adding a product, in the same way a shopping basket is treated, so it does not require a consent banner. Browse without using the enquiry list and nothing at all is stored.

04

What we deliberately do not use

So there is no doubt about what this site does behind the scenes, here is what is absent from it:

  • No analytics of any kind — no Google Analytics, no heatmaps, no session recording.
  • No advertising or remarketing tags, and no conversion pixels.
  • No social media tracking pixels or share widgets that phone home.
  • No A/B testing, personalisation or visitor-profiling tools.
  • No cookies used to identify you across sites or between visits.

Our hosting provider may set a strictly necessary cookie of its own for security or load balancing — the kind that keeps a site available rather than watching who visits it. Where that applies it will be named here once hosting is finalised.

05

Fonts and embedded content

Fonts

The typefaces on this site are downloaded when the site is built and served from this website’s own domain. Your browser does not request them from a font provider, so no third party sees your visit.

Maps, video and other embeds

This site embeds no third-party maps, videos or widgets. If we later add something like an embedded map on the contact page, it would be capable of setting its own cookies — so we would update this policy and, where consent is required, ask for it before the embed loads.

06

How to clear or block what is stored

You are in control of everything described above, and nothing on this site stops working without it — you would simply start your enquiry list again.

  1. 1.Clear it on the sitethe enquiry bar at the bottom of the screen has a clear control that empties the list and removes the stored item immediately.
  2. 2.Clear it in your browserevery modern browser lets you delete cookies and site data for an individual site, usually under Settings → Privacy, or by selecting the padlock in the address bar and choosing to clear site data.
  3. 3.Block it altogetherbrowsers can block cookies and site storage for all sites or for this one. Private or incognito windows discard everything when you close them.

For plain-English guidance on managing cookies in any browser, the Information Commissioner’s Office publishes advice at ico.org.uk.

07

Is any of this personal data?

The enquiry list holds product codes, not information about you, so on its own it does not identify anyone. It becomes part of a personal record only at the point you submit the enquiry form, because your message then arrives with your name and contact details attached.

What happens to that information afterwards — why we hold it, how long for, and what you can ask us to do about it — is set out in our Privacy Policy.

08

Changes to this policy

If we add anything to this website that stores information on your device, this page will be updated before it goes live and the date at the top will change. Where the new item is not strictly necessary, we will ask for your consent first and give you a way to withdraw it.

Questions about anything on this page can go to info@anco.ltd.

To settle before publication

Open points for A & N Co Ltd and its legal adviser. They are listed here rather than quietly assumed.

  • Confirm the hosting provider and list any strictly necessary cookie it sets, with its name, purpose and lifetime.
  • If an embedded map is added to the contact page, add it to the register and put a consent step in front of it before launch.
  • If analytics is ever wanted, it needs a consent banner with a genuine reject option — this policy and the site would both need updating first.
  • Re-check this page whenever a new third-party script, chat widget or booking tool is added to the site.
